DC sensing and system controls are rapidly evolving with unexpected results
Sunolar originated over two decades ago as a distributor specializing in solar panels. Over time, our focus expanded to include solar lighting solutions, both interior and exterior. Today, we are dedicated to enhancing the durability and long-term value of all our lighting offerings. Our commitment lies in developing innovative lighting products designed to endure for years, surpassing mere seasonal durability.
Sunolar is focused on two main product groups.
Solar Voltaic: solar collectors, low-power DC devices: lights, sensors, batteries, refrigeration, regulators, motors, pumps and other low-power DC devices.
LED, low power interior and exterior LED lighting is our newest area of aggressive product development. Light panels are a focus opportunity awaiting excellence.
The sun's constant provision of light, heat, and energy sustains our planet. Sunolar stands at the intersection of solar energy, LED lighting, DC power, and storage technologies, leveraging this convergence to innovate sustainable solutions.
Our initial SUNOLAR logo was refreshingly simple. We embarked on importing affordable solar panels under the original SUNOLAR brand, marking an exciting and exhilarating chapter for us.
Our first significant SUNOLAR logo featured vibrant colors and a wave design. In 2007, the solar industry was on the rise, especially for solar panels which were in high demand, particularly along the West Coast. During this time, we also witnessed notable advancements in the quality of solar lighting products.
In 2012, Sunolar adapted its logo to reflect the evolving times, highlighting our commitment to solar lighting, solar panels, and inverters during this pivotal era.
In 2017, SUNOLAR unveiled a new logo featuring a tri-color scheme during a challenging period for the solar industry. The sector faced setbacks including Chinese solar panel dumping tariffs in 2014 and subsequent tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in 2018, affecting all solar products and significantly impacting importers within the US market. To recover, many companies shifted manufacturing operations outside of China, though still offshore.
Solar power continues to demonstrate its efficacy across a spectrum of applications, ranging from large-scale projects to smaller installations. Despite recent slowdowns in the decline of silicon prices, largely influenced by tariffs, the increasing performance of solar technology enhances its appeal. For sustained success in the solar industry, access to large-scale, in-country manufacturing capabilities remains a crucial strategic and logistical advantage.
Solar, LEDs, and storage present unique and promising technical opportunities, each offering extensive untapped potential across various applications. Their convergence marks a significant opportunity akin to the early days of electric lighting in the late 1800s.
As we look ahead, the question arises: if AC light bulbs fade away, could DC devices ultimately dominate the lighting landscape?
